Easter Message
Walter Wangerin wrote a haunting story entitled "Ragman". Ragman is a strong young man who walked the streets of the city shouting "Rags! New rags for old! I take your tired rags! Rags!" Each time Ragman comes upon someone broken by a tragedy of life, he takes their wounds upon himself as he gives to that person, in return, that same healthy part of himself. Journeying through the streets, he becomes a different Ragman, "stumbling, exhausted, old and sick, falling again and again, yet moving with terrible speed" to the city dump where he dies.
Perhaps you can anticipate the story's ending: three days later Ragman is alive, healed, but bearing the scars of his earlier journey. "He is Ragman, the Ragman, the Christ!"
I hope someday you can read the story of Ragman yourself. It will touch you. It's core and heart of this story's message is our Lord Jesus, who took upon himself our brokeness andthe visible and invisible wounds that our sin brings upon us. He our sins to the cross, bearing the punishment that rightfully is ours. But that was not the end of the story. He broke even the bonds of death, rising to new life and giving to all who believe the promise of everlasting life. Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia!
Yes, we will always bear the wounds of this broken world. Yet, thanks be to God's bountiful and unfathomable grace, we have the promise of healing forgiveness and life in Christ Jesus, who takes our old rags and gives us, in their place, newness of life. Thanks be to God!
Have a blessed Easter!

Happy New Year to all our website readers!
I wish you God's good blessings in this new year:God's loving care when trials come...and God's serendipitous joys, gifts in the midst of what seems to be ordinary and unremarkable. Remember, in all things, both good and not so good, God is present to suplpy what is needed. After all, God's name is Emanuel which means "God with us!"
Proverbs 19:9 says, "The human mind prepares the way, but the Lord directs the steps." It is good to remember this when you make your plans for this new year. If you continue to pray the ultimate prayer, "Thy will be done", then you are releasing to God everything in your life. If your plans and hopes are in agreement with God's good will, then, in God's time and with God's blessing, they will come to fruition. If what we desire is not
within God's perfect will for us, our plans may be frustrated and unfruitful. Pray for God's direction in all things.
Whatever your plans, hopes and ddreams are for 2012, may you be blessed with a continuingawareness of God's goodness, knowing you are loved and you live by grace.
Peace! Pastor Margareta M. Breden
Christmas Message
The
early sunsets on winter days make the light of the evening stars even
brighter. We become more aware of darkness and light's power to pierce
it. Darkness can be frightening. In the darkness we cannot see the way
ahead of us. We feel alone. There are no visible landmarks that usually
mark the way. Spiritual darkness is much more frightening. Sin brings
it upon us because we become separated from God as we turn and seek our
own selfish way.
God does not want you to remain
in darkness, however. God loves you too much for this to
happen. Therefore God sent His Son, Jesus, who is the Light of the world.
There is no worldly power that can snuff out the Light of Christ, even
sin's power. The debt for your sin has been paid for, once and for all,
by Jesus who illumines the way back to the Father.
What
a tremendous Gift to us Christ is! In this busy season of gift shopping
and gift wrapping, take time each day to thank God for the greatest
Gift given, the holy child who lay in a stable's manger of wood, sent to
die for us as a man, nailed to a cross of wood on a lonely hill.
May you have a blessed Christmas and may your days be fillled with the joyous light of Christ!

Message of Peace
Late Summer 2011
Greetings to each of you who have connected to our website today! May the peace of the Lord be with you!
The peace Jesus Christ gives is a peace that this world cannot give. Our world is at dis-peace in so many parts of the globe, and in our own communities. Violence erupts everywhere, daily. War or the brink of war escalates. Crimes against humanity seem epidemic. Millions now suffer from extreme famine and hunger. Where there is injustice, there can be no peace.
The familiar song says, "Let there be peace on earth, and let it being with me." You may say this is too simplistic. Perhaps. But peace must begin somewhere lest hope fades for all of humankind. Why not let it begin with each of us?
Begin first with the peace God gives to you in his Son Jesus Christ. There is peace for your souls because through faith in Jesus Christ you have the forgiveness of your sin and the gift of eternal life. This gift of pure grace frees you to respond, offering the same love and reconciliation to each other which God first offers to you.
Begin today. Make peace with your brother or sister if that is needed. Make peace with your neighbor if there is estrangement. Forgive others as God has forgiven you. Bear no grudge against another. Work for the good of the other. Help the poor. Feed the hungry. Share equitably, where you can, the blessings you have been given.
You have the daily choice: to love or hate; to live only for self or share with others; to speak hurtful words or words that build up; to bless or not to bless.
Be a peace-maker this day. Live out the love of Jesus Christ in your corner of the world.
Summer 2011 Message
"This is my Father's world", so says the well-loved hymn of praise to the Creator. God desires that we delight in the beauty of the world, divinely sculpted. Life is short. Life is busy. What a loss if we do not make time to smell the roses, harvest vegetables from our back yard gardens, or take in a summer sunset at the day's end. Herein lies true refreshment of body and soul: that we bask in and drink deeply of the beauty of this world. Take time in your summer worship to thank God for these gifts. May God bless your summer days.
April 2011 Easter Message
Christ
is risen! Hallelujah! No greater love is this that Jesus Christ died
on the cross for you, taking your sin upon himself so that you may have
forgiveness and eternal life. How deep and wide is the love of God.
February 2011
An awesome realization! "You may very well be the only copy of the New Testament that another person reads." If you've ever wondered if your daily Christian acts of love and kindness make a difference in the world, now you know - they do! Jesus Christ uses us in ways that we cannot know or even imagine!
December 2010
Dear Friends,
Welcome to our new website!
Pastors are called upon to do many things in the life of a
congregation, even helping to launch a website.
I do this with great excitement!
Websites have endless possibilities to reach out to members, friends,
and newcomers.
Our website gives you a snapshot of who we are (a warm and
welcoming family of faith who try to live out the love of God in their lives)
and a window into what we do together (worship … teach and learn … pray … play …
nurture our children … reach out … serve … and support.)
Our website will be actively updated, even including
spiritual messages to uplift you in the midst of a busy day.
If your curiosity is peaked by our congregation’s name,
Friedensaal (free-den-zall) translated from the German, means “Hall of Peace”.
You only need to turn into White Church Road to be aware of why it is named so.
We sit within one of the most beautiful, pastoral scenes in York County.
I invite you to come and experience the warm hospitality for
which Friedensaal is known. Come, visit
us! It will be our pleasure and
privilege to welcome you!
You may call me (717-428-3453). Please leave your message if I am not in when
you call; I will call you back as soon as I can.
Peace! And may God bless you this day.
